What to Know about the Port Aransas Event

Texas Sandfest is the largest beach sand sculpture competition in the country. The three-day event, usually in April, is on the beach between Beach Access Road 1A and Sandcastle Drive. There will be advanced wristband sales, which are cash only, on the Wednesday and Thursday before the event at the Guest Services tent.

The best way to reach the festival is by shuttle. The free mode of transportation drops attendees off at the end of Sandcastle Drive. There are two free parking locations to catch the shuttle from: Roberts Point Park and Port Aransas Community Park. Another shuttle option is the golf cart shuttle, which departs from Gracie’s Way parking lot. If you want to drive, there are two lots on the beach, one near the north entrance and another near the south entrance. You will need to purchase a permit to park on the beach.

Sculptures are broken into different groups. This includes master duo and solo sculptors and semi-pro sculptors. There are also non-completing master sculptors who are there to help with various festival activities like the sculpting demos and tribute mountain.

In addition to watching the artists at work, you can enjoy live music and the beer tents. Competitions will be held for those looking to practice their skills. Some of the proceeds from the festival benefit several local charities.
